Have clearer idea of Kashmir Unrest now – Sinha

BJP leader to convey his perspective to Home Minister

have-clearer-idea-of-kashmir-unrest-now-sinhaFormer Foreign Minister and senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Friday said his recently concluded meeting with separatist leaders in Srinagar helped him get a clearer idea of the untoward happenings in the Kashmir valley and he would be conveying his perspective to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
“I met a large number of people not just separatists. In our individual capacity, we decided to go to Srinagar and meet as many people who are ready to meet us. We listened to their grievances and we were not sponsored by anyone, we had gone there in our individual capacities. We got a clearer idea of what is happening in the Kashmir valley and it will be our duty to convey all that we have seen and felt to the Home Minister,” Sinha said.
Earlier, Sinha, who led a five-member team to Srinagar for talks with a cross-section of society, including separatist leaders, had said that “there is a need to understand the pain of Kashmiris to deliver relief to them”.
The team included former bureaucrat Wajahat Habibullah, who served in Jammu and Kashmir, Air Vice Marshal Kapil Kak (retired), journalist Bharat Bhushan and activist Sushobha Barve.
The team led by Sinha tried to break the ice in Kashmir, which has recently witnessed violent protests for over three months.
